Growing Season

Growing part of our food for our school lunch program is an important part of our agriculture program. We also do our best to teach the children in Timothy’s and Patricia’s Home to garden. Here are some pictures from our summer gardens in Malawi to brighten your winter day!

Mr. Miles Edison is in charge of our corn fields. We use composting to help keep our soil healthy, supplementing with chemical fertilizers because of years of damage to the soil before we bought our farm land. Our hope is that the soil will continue to improve with good treatment in the years to come.

Patricia’s Home children are very, very proud of their watermelon! We weren’t sure it would grow, but they’ve done a great job with their garden. Check out their corn growing in the background.
