The Battle for Perspective in the Face of Pain: Losing Trinity

Trinity Lofiasi  Aug 2016 - Jan 11, 2017

We live in a broken and hurting world. Sadly, we inform you that another of our babies has died today, Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Sweet little Trinity passed suddenly this morning. Yesterday, they took her to “scale” where they measure and weigh the babies. (Like a Malawian wellness and weight check) Everyone was so pleased because she was so strong and healthy and crawling. This morning she woke up, drank her bottle of milk and then vomited. Our staff decided to take her to the hospital then sadly a little while ago Pastor Phiri got a call that she had passed away.

This loss and pain seems so unfair. Our hearts hurt loosing another of our sweet children. We are also grieving to see our other children, her ‘siblings’ hurting. Remember back to when Pastor Phiri was in America, the girls had renamed Trinity because of their fears. Her name was originally Ruth, the name of a baby we lost last January. They were frightened that she had the same name and worried she would pass away also.

We have victory in Jesus, the keys of death are firmly in his hands. We trust Him. And so we have hope in our despair and pray for healing to come through the pain. A prayer partner heard the news this morning about Trinity and rushed to the office to share with us how she has been praying for Trinity and for power over grief for days, since God awoke her in the night to pray for Baby Ruth (she didn't know the baby or her story, just the name) and for Pastor Phiri. God knows our needs and sends help before we even have a clue what is happening.

We ask you to stand with us in prayer today. Pray that God will provide healing for our children and staff who have lost yet another precious family member.  Our girls specifically have experienced so much loss. Pray that comfort will abound for the children and mothers. Pray for this pain to bring an opportunity to build unity and that forgiveness will overflow, and love will awaken in the girls' hearts. In the places of their hearts where petty jealousies and fights arise among them, I'm asking Jesus to bring their hearts into alignment with His heart and awaken His love in them! For Pastor Phiri, we ask that God gives him wisdom in leading the children through this and that he would embody the love of Christ as mercy and grace flow through him! Pray he will have the opportunity to meet with the girls in a moment of comfort, love and "call to faith". A teachable moment, if you will, to reach their hearts.

We are torn between pain and perspective today but choosing to focus on the perspective given to us by the Lord, Praise God for the blood of Jesus that washes over us and his grace and mercy that set us free from the earthly bondage to fear and pain.

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.  John 16:33

We will miss you sweet Trinity, but oh what a reunion we shall see in eternity! We choose joy and prayer to honor your memory!
