Our Orphanage on Lock Down

Just typing that title makes me feel like something terrible is happening, but when I video chat with the children each day on Whatsapp, their happy laughter and antics let me know that while the pandemic is raging around the world, we’ve been able to create a bubble of safety and joy for the kids.

I will be honest in saying that when Amayi Bokho agreed to go into lock down with the children, I wept. She is so good with the children. In the past week since she has been with the children, our social worker reports that the children are very well behaved, working hard in the garden, learning to cook, studying their school books and playing well together! I’m so very thankful!

One of the fun activities the children have enjoyed is making donuts (mandazi).

Tobwa is one of Malawians favorite drinks. It’s a little like our apple cider, not fermented, but just a little spicy kick. Personally, I think it is awful…but Malawians LOVE it! Today the children learned to make tobwa!

I hope and pray that you and your family are well.
