Malawi in September

Last May I was honest in telling you that I nearly quit. I was so upset with everything that happened. Going into our September trip, my heart was on a roller coaster of emotion. I was hopeful, but not convinced, I'm SO glad we didn't give up! I'm so thankful we held the course and remained faithful to the calling God has put on our hearts.

Through out the trip, this verse rang in my heart: "As God's grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up!" 2 Corinthians 4:15-16

A Joyous Welcome

When we arrived at the Grace Center, we were greeted by the children, staff, members of the church and community.

Honestly, I've never been greeted with so much joyful thanksgiving. Every face was filled with joy. Every handshake was a firm grasp and every hug a grateful gathering in. It was a wonderful beginning!

A Father’s Heart

Our Mighty Men team of 4 plus 6 Malawian Strong Men led by Kelvin Wetmore were absolutely incredible. They arrived in Malawi with the goal of completing two solar projects and the hope of getting two more projects completed. Within the first 4 days on the ground, they had completed their first 4 projects and began searching for money to do another 4! In all they completed 8 solar projects plus a number of repair jobs around the campus.

The eyes of these fathers were not just focused on projects and getting the jobs done. Their hearts were tuned to the children, taking time for them each day.

Leaders for the Transition

I am incredibly proud of our transitional leadership team. They are doing a really phenomenal job of learning and putting into place the organizational structures that we are establishing. It isn't easy to step into such a void but they have willing, capable hearts and minds. John Ingram and I spent hours each evening in discussion with them over the ministry and how to structure the organization so it can flourish.

That’s enough on the guys! What were the gals on our team up to?

Sponsorship and Christmas Gifts!

We spent several days seeing all the children in our program, checking to see how they are doing, gathering some FUN information that we’ll need for Christmas!

Karly Glibert and Emilie Wetmore were able to work on some shopping and pricing for our clinic supplies. We can't wait to share the shopping list with you. We are thinking a fun way to purchase the supplies will be for you to pick an item and then raise the funds together for that item with your small group, Sunday School class or family. More on that soon!

Just thinking about our moms having a safe place to deliver their babies, our children having a clinic nearby for early treatment of malaria and other illnesses makes my heart sing with joy!

There is no way to share with you all the experiences. I hope your heart is overflowing with JOY and Thanksgiving, that you'll give Praise to God! May He receive all the glory forever and ever.
