Fun in the Sun!
One of the BEST days of Summer is Lake Day! The children begin asking from the moment my feet hit the ground, "When are we going to the Lake?" They love the water, the fun and the novelty of doing something different.
This year, Lake Day took on a new significance. Like normal kids, our kids at the Grace Center occasionally need a little attitude adjustment! (Oh, yes, they can get pretty naughty!) Some of the kids had been skipping school to go catch mice, while others were testing the limits with mouthy rudeness. We put a plan in place to stop the misbehavior.
Anyone who misbehaved had to sit in time out and got their name written down in Mr. Mbota's little book. If they got their names written down 3 times, they would be left behind on Lake Day.
Suddenly all the misbehaving stopped. Only Timothy and Eunice skipped school one day. Sitting in time out and seeing that we were serious about writing their names in the book brought a quick dose of reality!
To add to the excitement and anticipation, friends from America sent bathing suits for the kids! Thank you to all our friends who gave bathing suits! They were deeply appreciated!
My favorite picture from our Summer 2015 Teams is this one of Mayi (Mrs.) Bokho! She is living the high life on the beach! Her best wig, her sunglasses and an orange Fanta!
Lake Day 2015 was our best Lake day yet! So much laughter, sun, food, waves and pure joy! Thanks Lake Malawi for an awesome day! Thanks to our Richwoods team for joining in the fun! And thank you all who love our kids, sponsor our kids and make it possible for them to HOPE!
