OUR NEWEST PROJECT:
Inpatient Pediatrics Ward
At Grace Community Health Center
The growth of Grace Community Health Center has more and more patients coming for services. Our current Inpatient capacity is 4 men and 4 women or children.
As malaria season approaches, we will soon have patients on the floor or doubling up in beds — NOT the best plan. The new inpatient pediatric ward will have 42 beds giving us the capacity to care for many patients!
Some of the common illnesses we see in Malawi that call for children to be admitted to the hospital are malaria, pneumonia, gastrointestinal illnesses, and malnutrition. Our design has rooms for medical patients, an ICU and in the future rooms for surgical patients.
The total cost for the building is $180,000.
Your gift will provide a place for families to receive quality medical care for their children.
Design Plans for the Inpatient Pediatrics Ward
The front of the building faces the Grace Center road and will have room for a car park.
The building is designed in a C shape with a courtyard in the center for patients to enjoy fresh air as they are improving. This design also gives us the capacity to add to the structure in the future for men’s and women’s medical and surgical wards.
The design has space for 42 beds eventually (you can count 38 on the picture). Indoor bathrooms and showers, private rooms, nurses station and staff room, offices and reception are also included in the building.
